My personal process tends to favor shooting with 35mm point-and-shoot cameras, and for the "Diary" series it was important for me to cultivate that aesthetic common to lo-fi snapshot film.  "Diary" is inspired by the tradition of the 'family photo album' like those kept by my grandmothers.  I wanted to repurpose the Family Photo Album as an art object in and of itself, and to frame it within the lens of the very queer tradition of the Chosen Family. Sharing images both staged and spontaneous, with friends, family, and coworkers in nightlife, "Diary" is a visual narrative of my own experience as a non-binary person living in the Golden State.
